Super Eagles Held by Poland After Late Stoppage-Time Equaliser

Nigeria’s senior men’s national team were denied victory in dramatic fashion as Poland fought back to secure a 2-2 draw in an international friendly on Friday night.
Nigeria took the lead in the 25th minute through Terem Moffi, who finished off a well-worked move after excellent play and an assist from Moses Simon.
The visitors looked comfortable for much of the first half, but Poland found an equaliser deep into stoppage time before the break when Nicola Zalewski struck in the 45+1st minute to make it 1-1.
The Super Eagles regained the advantage in the 76th minute after being awarded a penalty. Paul Onuachu stepped up confidently and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way with a well-taken spot-kick to restore Nigeria’s lead.
Eric Chelle’s side appeared set for victory, but Poland produced a dramatic late response in the fourth minute of added time.
Defender Przemysław Wiśniewski unleashed a stunning strike from around 25 yards, beating the goalkeeper with a superb effort to level the scores at 2-2 and rescue a draw for the hosts.
Despite the disappointment of conceding late, the friendly provided another useful test for the Super Eagles as Chelle continues to assess his squad ahead of future competitive fixtures.
Nigeria will now shift focus to their next international friendly against Portugal as preparations continue for upcoming assignments.
