NWFL Premiership MD5 Wrap: Confluence end Nasarawa run, Edo & Delta surge on

The 2022/2023 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership resumed on Wednesday after Christmas and New Year break with match week five games.
In Benue, Confluence Queens ended Nasarawa Amazons’ unbeaten run with a 2-3 win over the Solid Miners.
Aweda Titilayo’s brace for the Lafia-based side wasn’t enough as two goals from Ijeoma Moses and Mary Opara propelled Confluence Queens to its first win of the season.
The three goals conceded by Nasarawa Amazons were the first to be conceded b Christopher Danjuma’s team after three consecutive clean sheets.
First half brace from Ajimuda Rebecca lifted Edo Queens to a 0-2 away win over Ibom Angels in Uyo.
The win was the Benin City-based side’s fourth straight victory of the season.
Nkechi Agams’ 89th-minute goal was enough to hand Abia Angels a 1-0 win against Adamawa Queens condemning the visitors to back-to-back defeats.
Holders, Bayelsa Queens defeated Osun Babes 4-0 with goals from Flourish Sabastine, Etim Edidiong, Mwaka Mupeta, and Zainab Olopade.
Delta Queens maintained its perfect start to the season with a 2-0 win over Naija Ratels FC in Asaba.
Second-half goals from Chinaza Agoh and Taiwo Afolabi ensured the host earned its fourth straight victory after four games.
Former Champions, Rivers Angels dropped points after playing out a 0-0 draw with Heartland Queens.
Delta Queens top Group A with a maximum of 12 points after four games, two points ahead of Bayelsa Queens, and five points better than third-placed Rivers Angels.
In Group B, Edo Queens top the table with 12 points, five points ahead of Nasarawa Amazons and Abia Angels.
