‘He is a fighter’ – Tijani Babangida backs Wilfred Ndidi to regain form at Leicester City

By Monsurah Olatunji

Former Ajax Amsterdam and Nigeria international winger Tijani Babangida has backed Wilfred Ndidi to bounce back after admitting that the Leicester City midfielder struggled with injury and poor form in 2022.
Ndidi’s fine form earned positive reviews as he was considered of one of the best midfielders but the 26-year-old has not the best of form as injury had limited his contributions, earning only nine starts for the Foxes this term.
After suffering a hamstring injury in September 2021 that kept him out of action for over a month, a knee injury that he cupped in March sidelined him for nearly four months, effectively ending his season prematurely. This season, he has been struggling with hamstring problem and a thigh muscle strain.
His second-half introduction in Leicester’s disappointing home loss to Fulham was his fourth appearance from the bench in this campaign but Babangida is upbeat about Ndidi recovering from his injury-plaqued time.
“2022 was not really a good one for Ndidi considering the fact that he was plaque by injury,” Babangida told media.
“However, I pray he keeps fit this time around in order to maintain his regular form in Leicester City.”
Ndidi joined Leicester City from Genk for €17.6 million and has risen in profile to become Nigeria’s second most valuable player behind Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.
