NWFL Premiership: Jacob Vandhi rates Adamawa Queens high despite Robo Queens loss

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Head coach of Adamawa Queens, Jacob Vandhi has rated his team high despite a 3-0 loss to FC Robo Queens on Wednesday in a Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership encounter on Wednesday.
The defeat leaves Adamawa Queens is a spot below the Super Six spot in Group B with nine points behind leaders, Edo Queens (12 points), Nasarawa Amazons (10 points), and Abia Angels (10 points).
Despite the disappointing loss, the former coach of Adamawa United hailed his players for putting up a brave display in the face of defeat to the Lagos Landladies, while assuring they will do better in second stanza.
“After the end of this first stanza, I rate my team 70% because they are just coming up. Look at the way they are playing. They play under instructions,” Vandhi told www.nigeriafootball.ng.
“Our last match with Nasarawa Amazons was not like this. They can keep and play the ball. That’s why I said Robo Queens have quality players more than my team with World Cup stars from U20 and U17 Women’s World Cups.”
Goals from Misturat Yusuf, Esther Onyenezide, and Rukayat Shobowale condemned the Yola based rivals to a third consecutive away defeat and unbothered Vandi insists they are focused on qualifying for the Super Six tournament.
“I can say FC Robo Queens have standard players. They are strong and ended the game the way they started it. They are more technical than my girls and more mature,” he continued.
“That’s the truth. I have to say the truth. My team is made up of young players, 16 and 17-year-old girls. I have to work very hard and strengthen the team again because if I want to qualify for the Super Six, I have to bring in more mature and strong players to my team.
“The Super Six is still my target. I still have a chance with nine points. I calculate points so the team still has the chance of qualifying for the Super Six.”
Vandhi made history in 2019 by leading the team to qualify for the Super Four for the first time in Lagos with the likes of Regina Omede, Sandra Johnosi, and Marvelous Duru and will hope to replicate the feat this season.
