‘We shouldn’t have lost’ – Edith Agoye livid with Sunshine Stars defeat at Lobi Stars

Technical Adviser of Sunshine Stars, Edith Agoye is unhappy over how his team bowed to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Lobi Stars in a Nigeria Premier Football League encounter on Wednesday.

Joseph Atule scored a late minute penalty to hand Lobi Stars the three points in a pulsating encounter played at the New Jos Stadium as the victory ensured the hosts ended Sunshine’s unbeaten run in the ongoing abridged league.

While commending his players, Agoye insists it was a match they deserved something better but assures his side will seek to bounce back to winning ways in their next league outing this weekend.

“It was not bad game, Lobi Stars came out with all their arsenals in the first half but we were able to curtail them we couldn’t give them enough space to make good use of their advantages,” Agoye told Nigeriafootball.ng.

“We wanted to come out in the second half and open them up which we did, but unfortunately we lost this game, one we shouldn’t have lost.

“This was a game we could have taken something to consolidate our position on the table to improve the confidence of these boys who are working tirelessly everyday to get a good result here.

“We will need to psyche our boys up again ahead of next match, improve their confidence because this is Nigerian football and this is how we play it.”

Sunshine Stars have a date with Bayelsa United on Sunday in the continuation of their quest for domestic success.
