NPFL: Monday Odigie reiterates personal objective with highflying Bendel Insurance
By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Bendel Insurance head coach, Monday Odigie has reiterated his personal objective in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) this season despite its perfect start to the current campaign.
The newly promoted team remained the only side with a perfect record in the league this season after five games, having won all five games with three away wins and two home victories.

Odigie has refused to be carried away by the impressive form of his team and is hoping they can maintain their league status with its good start.
“We will try to do everything possible to ensure that we stabilise Bendel Insurance in the elite league because it’s a very tough league,” Odigie told Brila FM.
“In trying to stabilise it, I also try to fight for every match that we find ourselves. With that, it means we are guaranteed to remain in the league. Whatever it takes to ensure that we fight and remain in the league is our major focus now. The objective now is to stabilise the team and get used to the toughness of the league.”
The Benin City-based side will welcome Gombe United to the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Saturday with its perfect run at stake before a trip to Aba where it will face Enyimba next midweek.
Bendel Insurance tops Group A with a maximum of 15 points after five games, three points ahead of Remo Stars.
Formerly known as ‘Vipers of Benin’, Bendel Insurance during its glory days won two league titles in 1973 and 1979, added to two league tirles were three FA Cup triumphs in 1972, 1978, and 1980. The team also won the West African Club Championship three times consecutively in 1993, 1994, and 1995 with a CAF Cup trophy in 1994.
