NPFL: Abia Warriors spank Dakkada as Gombe United end Bendel Insurance’s run

Abia Warriors secured a 4-2 win at Dakkada FC in one of the two 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matches on Saturday in Uyo.

Emmanuel Onu capitalised on a loose ball to get the opener for Abia Warriors in the 27th minute as the visitors head into the break with a narrow lead at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

John Peter found the back of the net to double the visitors lead three minutes into the second half before Emmanuel Ayoasi pulled one goal back for Dakkada FC in the 65th minute of the encounter.

11 minutes from full time, Felix Aniekwe made it three for the Warriors with a long range strike but Aniekan Ekpe reduced the deficit for Dakkada FC five minutes later.

At the death, Monday Yakubu scored the fourth goal of the day to guaranteee Abia Warriors’ victory.

The win moved the Uchendu Warriors to the second position in Group B with 12 points while Dakkada FC maintained the ninth position on the log with four points.

Meanwhile, Gombe United ended Bendel Insurance winning streak after forcing the Benin Arsenals to a 0-0 draw.

Eight more games will take place on Sunday as far as match day six of the 2022/2023 NPFL is concerned.
