By Saheed Afolabi
Confluence Queens assistant coach, Esther Micheal says the tactical input of her boss Whyte Ogbonda inspired her side’s 2-0 win against Ibom Angels at the Confluence Stadium on Friday.
The Kogi ladies were seeking to maintain their winning streak after heading into the break with three wins on the bounce and they went on to secured their fourth win in a row in Lokoja, climbing to second on the Group B log.
Following the exit of team’s leading scorer Chioma Moses, new signing Isigwe Chukwuamaka gave the Lokoja based club side the lead after she dribbled past her mark to open the scoring in the 36th minute before she  struck mid way into the second half to guarantee the victory.
And the former Confluence Queens star turned coach, who was excited about their fourth consecutive win, revealed the secret behind the team’s clinical triumph over their struggling visitors from Akwa Ibom State.
“We are very excited because we work hard towards this game to see that we came out victorious with the great tactics of coach Whyte Ogbonda, he’s a great tactician and we thank God for being in the team,” Micheal told Nigeriafootball.ng.
“He makes us look very very good in terms of the things that we are lacking. When we lost one of our player, sorry to use that word, she left the team, many people thought that it was finished.
“Many people were expecting that cannot we make it, with the great tactician which is coach Ogbonda, he psyche up the girls and even the goal scorer. He made sure he talks to her and she came out with two goals.”
Confluence Queens are second on the NWFL Premiership group B abridged format with 13 points from seven matches and will face Edo Queens in their next domestic outing.
