U20 Afcon: Ladan Bosso upbeat about Nigeria’s World Cup qualification chances

By Monsurah Olatunji
Head coach of Nigeria U20 national side, Ladan Bosso is upbeat about his team getting to the semifinal of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The Flying Eagles underwent their first training session in Egypt following their arrival from neighboring Morocco on Thursday night as they prepare for the U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The seven-time African champions had been in Casablanca, Morocco for about a week, and they will begin their quest for an eighth glory against Senegal at the Cairo International Stadium on Sunday.
“I so much believe that this is a team that we all hope in the nearest future, would be the crop of the Super Eagles team,” Bosso told NFF TV.
“We have played several matches from the screening process before going for the WAFU competition, and I believe up to date, we have not lost any match.
“I always tell them [the players] that I don’t want to hear we’ve lost a match, and I believe that character is in them.
This is a team that always plays better in the second half, and I hope and believe they would always continue like that.
“I so much believe that this is a team with character, a team that never gives up on anything.”
The tournament will serve as the qualifying tournament where all four semi-finalists in Egypt will qualify to represent Africa at the 23rd FIFA U20 World Cup in Indonesia later this year.
