Samuel Chukwueze provides brace of assists in Villarreal’s late win at Almeria

Nigerian forward Samuel Chukwueze notched up his performance with Villarreal on Saturday as he was instrumental to the Yellow Submarines’ commanding 2-0 LaLiga win at Almeria.

The Super Eagles winger endured Villarreal banished any thought of Almeria aiming to consolidate on their famous win over Barcelona last weekend with assists coming in the closing minutes of the match.

Almeria started the match with replica of confidence displayed against Barca was left to blame profligacies as they could have taken a first half lead through Leo Baptistao who missed from close range.

Villarreal came alive in the contest but lacked the finishing instinct as they failed to score before half time for a 10th time in 13 away games this season.

Manager Quique Setien brought in Gerard Moreno as the game wears on in the second half and the forward made his presence felt as he made himself available for Chukwueze’s pass in the box before placing it under Almeria keeper.

As the match coasting to last minutes, Villarreal made it two to add insult to injury too for the host as José Luis Morales volleying home a superb effort off another brilliant pass from the Nigerian winger.

Chukwueze, however increased his goal provision in LaLiga to six with three goals.  The victory, however pushed Villarreal closer to Champions League spot while Almeria missed the chance to steer clear from the drop zone.
