Halimatu Ayinde, Regina Otu and Okoronkwo early birds in Nigeria camp in Antalya

Nigeria senior national team camp opened on Tuesday with nine players in Antalya, Turkey, the team has announced.

Captain Onome Ebi led home-based duo of Etim Inyene (Abia Angels) and Deborah Abiodun (Rivers Angels) traveled with the team from Abuja, Nigeria via Turkish Airline and lodged at the Sense de luxe Hotel, Antalya.

They were joined later by France based Saint Etienne trio of Yewande Balogun, Esther Okoronkwo, and Regina Otu also arrived camp early before dinner time.

And at dinner time, Sweden-based Halimatu Ayinde (Rosengard), as well Turkey based Besiktas duo of Glory Ogbonna, and Vivian Ikechukwu, who was given a late call-up ahead of Friday’s clash with Haiti.

The nine-time African champions have a date against World Cup-bound Haiti at the Emir Sports Complex on Friday, 7th April, before taking on Women’s World Cup co-hosts New Zealand at the same venue five days later.

Randy Waldrum will be hoping his side build on the winning form, having ended their seven-match losing streak in 1-0 victory over Women’s World Cup-bound Costa Rica in March.

Nigeria will be making its ninth appearance this summer and has participated at every edition since its inception in 1991 and they will face Australia, Canada, and the Republic of Ireland in Group A at the global showpiece.
