NWFL Nationwide MD3 Wrap: Fortress continue run, Chosen win seven-goal thriller

The third-tier Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Nationwide season for 2023 continues in Benin City on Wednesday.
After victories over Castmog Ladies and Chosen Generation, Fortress Ladies made it three consecutive wins as they pipped Unification FC 1-0.
Nduka Gift’s 19th-minute goal separated both sides after 90 minutes in the Group A encounter.
In the second Group A game, First Mahi Babes edged Wazbak Int’l 3-2. Wali Ruth handed First Mahi Babes the lead in the eighth minute before Joseph Ijeoma doubled the lead in the 25th minute.
Wazbak Int’l came out smoking in the second half resulting in the equalizing goals from Olaonipekun Olanike and Adebayo Damilola.
Unfortunately, the comeback was truncated by Akaji Favour’s 64th-minute goal which won the game for First Mahi Babes.
Ogun State-based side, Chosen Generation Angels earned its first win of the campaign with a 5-2 win against Kaduna Queens
Victoria Collins scored two goals for Chosen Generation coupled with goals from Favour Lazarus, Odunayo Adekanbi, and Ireoluwa Alabi.
Busayo Akinfolaju’s brace were not enough to save Kaduna Queens from its second loss after two games.
Meanwhile, Heroes Queens forced Papa Soccer Academy to a 1-1 draw.
Bello Esubiodun’s 23rd-minute opener was canceled by Chinaza Okeke’s 40th-minute equaliser.
