Falconets Draw Spain, China PR in FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Poland 2026

Nigeria’s U-20 women’s national team, the Falconets, have been handed a competitive route at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Poland 2026 following the official draw ceremony held in Poland.
The Falconets were drawn in Group F alongside European giants Spain, Asian side China, and tournament debutants New Caledonia.
Nigeria, one of the most successful teams in the history of the competition, will be aiming to make another deep run after twice finishing as runners-up in 2010 and 2014.
Spain are expected to provide the toughest challenge in the group following their rise as a dominant force in women’s youth football, while China PR bring experience and tactical discipline into the competition.
New Caledonia, making their first appearance at the tournament, are viewed as outsiders in the group but could still pose a threat if underestimated.
The draw is being regarded as balanced but potentially tricky for the Falconets, with fixtures against China PR and New Caledonia likely crucial in Nigeria’s bid to secure qualification to the knockout stages before a decisive showdown against Spain.
Finishing top of the group could also help Nigeria avoid an early clash with other tournament heavyweights including Japan and defending champions North Korea in the knockout rounds.
Nigeria will also carry the hopes of Africa into the tournament alongside Benin, Tanzania, and Ghana, who also qualified for the global competition.
Benin face hosts Poland and Argentina in Group A, Tanzania were drawn against Brazil and England in Group B, while Ghana must battle France and Korea Republic in Group C.
The Falconets will head to Poland determined to finally win the only major title that has eluded Nigeria’s women’s football programme despite decades of continental dominance and consistent performances on the world stage.
