Oladimeji Abimbola pleased with Sunshine Queens’ training tour success

Sunshine Queens head coach, Oladimeji Abimbola is delighted with the success attained at the recent training tour of the team ahead of this year’s  Nigeria Women’s Football League Championship.
The Owena Mermaids won four times at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, scored five goals and conceded three goals as they defeated Dannaz Ladies 3-0, lost 2-1 to Eletu Queens and played a drab 1-1 draw with Lakeside Queens.
And the gaffer, however revealed the areas they needed correction at before embarking for the NWFL Championship.
“We give equal opportunity to all the players to display what we have been impacting on them. I must confess, the tour has revealed many things about the team and individual players,” quoted by Sport Gigster.
“As we are going back to Akure, we are going to work immidiately and start making necessary amendment on the areas we are not doing well before we go for the championship proper.
“The players played against teams that are training on the pitch, Lakeside are training here day and night and we held them to a 1-1 draw after about four hours drive, Danas FC are also training on the same pitch and we also defeated them 3-0, we lost 2-1 to Kazeem Eletu FC in last match.”
The tactician appreciated the Ondo State government for deeming it fit to approve the training tour for the club which have exposed its lacking edge.
“I thank the commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr Bamidele Ologunloluwa for his vision to approve what I described as an eye – opener and also to enable us familiarize with the pitch and the environment.”
The Owena Mermaids will be seeking to gain promotion back to the NWFL Premiership after they were relegated to the championship last season.
