Stanley Eguma tasks IMC to improve NPFL standards and organization

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Head Coach of Rivers United’s Stanley Eguma has appealed to the Interim Management Committee (IMC) to improve above its performances of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The IMC board had received commendations for organizing the abridged league where Enyimba FC clinched the title at the Super Six in Lagos.
The NPFL longest serving coach believes there’s room for improvement ahead of next season, while blaming fixtures congestion for his side’s inability to defend their domestic crown.
“We have to fashion out a better way of organizing the regular season so that we will no longer have the problem of match congestion and postponement which affected us during the abridged league and on the continent,” Eguma told Brila FM.
“We have to do better next season. I think we also have to improve on our facilities as well. It is very important especially the playing turf and the stadium facilities.”
Eguma led the Pride of Rivers to the quarter final of the 2022/2023 CAF Confederation Cup, the best performance by the team in the tournament.
Unfortunately, the Port Harcourt couldn’t retain its league title after a third place finish at the end of the Super Six.
They will hope to reclaim the NPFL league title next season and improve on its quarter-final finish in the CAF Confederation Cup.
