By Monsurah Olatunji
Nigeria striker Victor Boniface scored his second consecutive brace for Bayer Leverkusen in their 5-1 demolition of newly-promoted Darmstadt in the German Bundesliga encounter on Saturday.
The 22-year-old opened his goal account for Xabi Alonso’s side by netting a brace in the club’s 3-0 victory against Borussia Monchengladbach last weekend.
Die Werkself welcomed new boys Darmstadt to Bay Arena, and once again Boniface showed his prowess.
The Nigerian international netted a goal in either half and assisted another at the BayArena after another man-of-the-match display.
The forward opened the scoring for Bayer Leverkusen in the 21st minute when he received a pass from Jeremie Frimpong in his own half and went on a mazy run.
Boniface struck again after receiving a great pass from Florian Wirtz for tap in, while goals from Exequiel Palacious, Jonas Hofman, and Adam Hlozek completed the convincing victory.
The 22-year-old has so far registered four goals and one assist in five league appearances for Xabi Alonso’s men to maintain their 100 percent start to the league season.
Bayer Leverkusen will take on defending champions Bayern Munich in their next league game after the international break.
