Victor Boniface: Bayer Leverkusen star makes German Bundesliga award shortlist

Nigeria striker, Victor Boniface has had his remarkable start to life in Bundesliga rewarded with a nomination for the Rookies of the Month award.

Boniface joined Bayer Leverkusen in the summer from Belgian side, Royal Union Saint Gilloise on a four-year deal.

The 24-year-old has hit the ground running with blistering performances accompanied with great goals that have seen Leverkusen remain unbeaten in league and cup tournaments.

His two goals and assist in opening two games of the league saw him nominated among the three rookies of the month of August award.

Nigerian-born goalkeeper Noah Atubolu, who plays SC Freiburg is also nominated for the award.

Atubolu kept one clean sheet in three league outings for Freiburg in August.

RB Leipzig winger Xavi Simons is the other winger nominated for the award.
