Nigeria and Chippa United’s goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali is a subject of a move away from Premier Soccer League, PSL in South Africa following his heroics at the ongoing African Cup of Nations, AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast.
The Super Eagles shotstopper has been sensational at the tournament keeping four clean sheets in six games and conceded just just two goals.
His penalty saves ensured Nigeria qualified for the final of the 2023 AFCON at the expense of South Africa in the semifinal on Wednesday.
The 27 year old joined Chippa United in 2022 and has being the club’s number one since then. He’s had 15 match appearances for Chippa before joining Nigeria camp for the ongoing tournament in Ivory Coast.
Fellow PSL side, Kaizer Chiefs have identified as potential replacement for their ageing and out of form goalkeepers in Itumeleng Khune and Brandon Petersen.
However, Mohammed Lawal who is Nwabali’s manager confirmed interest from Chiefs but disclosed more interests are now coming for his clients which was down to his excellent performance at AFCON.
There is interest in France and Saudi Arabia. There is no surprise because of his performance during the Afcon tournament in Ivory Coast.
“I have only seen [Kaizer Chiefs links] in newspapers. I cannot comment on anything regarding local interest, please speak to the chairman of the club.”
Any club that will come for Nwabali’s services must be ready to table an appreciable prices to take him away from Chippa United.
