African Football Legends Set to Assist AFCON 2027 Qualifiers Draw in Cairo

Former Nigeria captain William Troost-Ekong, alongside some of Africa’s most celebrated football icons, will play a key role in the AFCON 2027 Qualifiers Draw on Tuesday in Cairo at 3:00 PM local time.

The football legends involved include:

Max-Alain Gradel (Côte d’Ivoire)

William Troost-Ekong (Nigeria)

Essam El Hadary (Egypt)

Trésor Mputu (DR Congo)

CAF has confirmed that the 48 remaining teams in the AFCON 2027 qualifiers will be drawn into 12 groups. The top two teams from each group will earn a spot in the tournament.

Interestingly, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, who have already qualified automatically as co-hosts, will still participate in the qualifiers. Consequently, an extra team from each of their groups will also advance to the tournament alongside them.
