In a triumphant return to the ranks of Egyptian champions Al Ahly, Junior Ajayi showcased his goal-scoring prowess, finding the net in their 2-1 victory against Tanta on Monday night. The Nigerian forward’s stellar performance comes on the heels of his recent debut for the Super Eagles in their friendly against Serbia on March 27 in London.
Ajayi made a significant impact in the game against Tanta, breaking the deadlock in the 61st minute and setting the stage for his teammate Marwan Mohsen to secure a comfortable lead with a goal in the 86th minute. Despite Tanta managing to score a consolation goal through Mohamed Gaber in the 90th minute, Al Ahly’s dominance remained unchallenged.
Expressing his satisfaction on Twitter, Ajayi remarked, “Coming from an international friendly and continuing to mark my register is the way and the only way to go. Up Al Ahly.”
With this triumph, Al Ahly further solidified their position at the top of the league table, amassing an unassailable lead with 78 points. On the other hand, Tanta finds themselves in the 16th spot with 26 points.
Ajayi’s seamless transition from international duties to club football underscores his commitment and impact both on the domestic and global stages.
