Al Hilal target Manchester City winger Jack Grealish after Diaz and Dembele moves stall

Al Hilal have added Manchester City winger Jack Grealish to their list of summer transfer targets, after exploring moves for Luis Diaz and Ousmane Dembele.

According to British radio station Talksport, the Saudi Pro League champions are interested in signing the England international from the Premier League champions in the current transfer window.

Grealish has returned to Manchester City after spending last season on loan at Everton, where he scored six goals and provided two assists in 20 Premier League appearances.

City prefer permanent sale

Talksport reports that Everton are keen to re-sign Grealish for another season, again on a loan deal, following his impact at Goodison Park last term.

However, Manchester City are said to be unwilling to sanction a second loan spell and instead want to sell the 30-year-old on a permanent basis. That stance is seen as strengthening Al Hilal’s position in any negotiations, as a full transfer would align with City’s preference.

Player’s preference complicates Al Hilal move

A key obstacle for Al Hilal is Grealish’s own wishes. The winger is understood to prefer remaining in the Premier League for the coming season rather than moving abroad.

Al Hilal, though, could attempt to persuade him with a lucrative tax-free salary package, which has been used in the past by Saudi Pro League clubs to attract high-profile European-based players.

Al Hilal’s wider winger rebuild

Al Hilal have already moved decisively in the wide areas this summer. The club have signed Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville from West Ham United in a deal worth around €80m, according to media reports.

Despite that major outlay, Al Hilal are still in the market for further attacking reinforcements on the flanks, having previously turned their attention to the likes of Ousmane Dembele and Luis Diaz.

The pursuit of Grealish is therefore part of a broader strategy to deepen their options out wide as they look to build a squad capable of sustaining domestic dominance and competing for continental honours.

While Manchester City’s stance and Al Hilal’s financial power could favour a move, Grealish’s desire to stay in the Premier League remains the main uncertainty surrounding any potential deal.
