Hertha BSC have confirmed the signing of Nigerian forward Oluwaseun Adewumi from Burnley on a season-long loan, with the 21-year-old becoming the club’s first arrival of the 2026 summer transfer window.
The Bundesliga 2 side announced the deal after reports from Sky Germany earlier on Wednesday indicated that both clubs had reached an agreement. Adewumi remains under contract with Burnley until 2028, while details of the loan, including whether it contains a purchase option, have not been disclosed.
Adewumi heads to Berlin after spending the 2025–26 season on loan at Belgian club Cercle Brugge, where he enjoyed a productive spell. The young attacker scored six goals in 33 appearances across all competitions, gaining valuable first-team experience as he continued his development.
Reacting to the signing, Hertha sporting director Benjamin Weber highlighted the forward’s qualities and the value he will bring to the squad.
“We are delighted that we were able to sign Oluwaseun. Despite his young age, he has already gained valuable experience in different competitions and is capable of playing in several attacking roles. He will enhance our game with his versatility, pace and dynamism,” Weber said.
Adewumi has already linked up with his new teammates at Hertha’s pre-season training camp as the club steps up preparations for the 2026–27 campaign.
The Austrian youth international will now be aiming to make an immediate impression in Berlin and play a key role as Hertha BSC push for a successful season.
