Barcelona handed double boost for Mallorca clash

Spanish giants Barcelona have been afforded a timely double boost on the personnel front, ahead of the club’s upcoming showdown with RCD Mallorca.

Xavi Hernandez’s troops, of course, are set to return to action later this evening.

Amid a dismal stretch of three defeats from the club’s last four across all competitions, the Blaugrana will welcome the aforementioned Mallorca to the Camp Nou, no doubt desperate for a return to winning ways.

The evening’s visitors to Catalunya, though, will prove no pushovers, amidst a tense battle for their top-flight lives which currently sees Javier Aguirre’s men hovering just two points clear of the relegation zone.

Ansu boost

It will therefore no doubt come as music to the ears of the Barcelona faithful to hear that, on Sunday, two sidelined members of the club’s first-team setup have returned to the fold.

Most significant is the long-awaited comeback of Ansu Fati, who has not taken to the pitch since late January owing to a fresh hamstring injury.

A short time ago, though, the Spanish starlet was confirmed as part of Xavi’s matchday squad to face Mallorca, likely to be introduced off the bench at some point in proceedings at the Camp Nou.

And joining Ansu back in the fray on Sunday is defender Samuel Umtiti.

French international Umtiti, remarkably, has managed just a solitary appearance this season, owing to a combination of fitness woes and competition for places.

He could yet be afforded a 2nd outing of the term up against Mallorca, though, too back in the matchday fold unveiled across Barca’s social media platforms on Sunday afternoon.
