CAS Decision on Senegal-Morocco AFCON Final Dispute Expected Within Days

Senegal and Morocco have been told to expect a decision from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) within days following the conclusion of proceedings over the controversial AFCON 2025 final.
The CAS panel heard submissions from all three parties involved in the case — the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Morocco and Senegal — with each side represented by legal counsel.
The hearing was completed on Thursday, paving the way for the sports’ highest arbitration body to issue its ruling.
CAS Director General Matthieu Reeb acknowledged the lengthy wait for supporters following the final between Senegal and Morocco.
“I know it’s a long wait for the fans a few months after the final between Senegal and Morocco,” Reeb said.
However, he indicated that a decision would not be delivered immediately, but should follow shortly.
“I expect the decision to come not today, not tomorrow, but a few days later. The facts are set, are clear and the discussions will be on some procedural issues and legal aspects,” he added.
The ruling is expected to bring an end to the legal uncertainty surrounding the AFCON 2025 final and determine the outcome of the dispute between the two West and North African footballing nations.
