Chikezie Okolie: Nigerian defender joins SSV Kastorf on free transfer

Nigerian defender Chikezie Okolie has joined German club SSV Kastorf on a free transfer from VfL Oker.

The 21-year-old has signed a deal running until 30 June 2027 with the LL Braunschweig side, completing his move on 14 July 2026. Okolie arrives as a permanent signing after a short spell with Oker, where he had been playing since January 2026.

Okolie, who operates across the back line, becomes one of the latest additions to Kastorf’s squad as they shape their group for the new campaign. His move continues a period of rapid change in his career, with this his third club in less than two seasons.

Before joining VfL Oker, Okolie had been on the books of Future PA, initially leaving the club in January 2025 to spend time on loan at Swedish side Hammarby TFF. That switch was made as a temporary deal before he returned to Future PA at the end of November 2025.

Born on 3 September 2004, Okolie now commits his immediate future to SSV Kastorf, with his contract tying him to the club until the end of the 2026-27 season.
