Bursaspor Manager Le Guen Laments Key Absence of Injured Mikel Agu
Bursaspor’s impressive run in the Turkish Super Lig faces a significant setback as manager Paul Le Guen acknowledges the substantial loss posed by the injury to Super Eagles midfielder Mikel Agu. The midfielder’s absence will be keenly felt in the upcoming clash against Goztepe, with Agu set to undergo arthroscopic menisectomy surgery on his right knee, ruling him out of action for four weeks.
Addressing the media in his pre-match conference on Friday, Le Guen expressed the challenges faced by national teams in dealing with such difficult situations, emphasizing the impact on the cohesive working of the full team.
“As we look ahead to the match against Göztepe, our players are back, but we are without two key players. Mikel Agu is injured and out, while Titi is suspended for this game. They are both significant losses for us, but I am totally confident in the players who will replace them on Saturday,” commented the French coach.
Le Guen has steered Bursaspor to a commendable sixth place in the Turkish Super Lig standings, securing 17 points from 11 games, encompassing five wins, two draws, and four defeats. The challenge now lies in compensating for the void left by the absence of Agu, a player pivotal to Bursaspor’s strong start to the season.
