Emmanuel Iyoha: Germany-Nigeria winger joins 1.FC Magdeburg on free transfer from Fortuna Dusseldorf

Germany-Nigeria winger Emmanuel Iyoha has joined 1.FC Magdeburg on a free transfer from Fortuna Dusseldorf, making the move into the 2. Bundesliga after leaving the third tier.
The 28-year-old right-sided attacker, who stands at 1.93m and is comfortable on both feet, links up with Magdeburg after his contract with Fortuna came to an end. The switch keeps him in German football but marks a step back into the second division, where he has built the bulk of his senior career.
Born in Dusseldorf, Iyoha came through his hometown club’s youth system before progressing into the first team in 2016. He spent much of his early senior career gaining experience on loan, including spells with VfL Osnabruck and Erzgebirge Aue, before returning to Fortuna and later dropping into the 3. Liga.
Iyoha arrives in Magdeburg with extensive 2. Bundesliga experience, having made more than 200 appearances in the division. Across those matches he has contributed 20 goals and 15 assists, underlining his ability to operate as a wide attacker over several seasons at this level.
He has also featured in the DFB-Pokal and Bundesliga play-offs, adding further top-level domestic experience to Magdeburg’s squad.
Iyoha’s move to 1.FC Magdeburg is a permanent free transfer, confirmed after the opening of the 2026 summer window.
