Ifenna Dorgu: Denmark-Nigeria forward leaves Botev Plovdiv to become free agent

Teenage centre-forward Ifenna Dorgu, who holds both Danish and Nigerian nationality, has left Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv and is now a free agent. The 19-year-old attacker departs the efbet Liga club after a brief spell in Bulgaria and will be available to join a new team immediately.

Dorgu, a right-footed centre-forward, joined Botev Plovdiv in May 2026 following a period without a club earlier in the same season. His time in Bulgaria added another step to a career that has already taken in senior football in Denmark and youth football in Italy.

Before moving to Botev, Dorgu was on the books of Danish side HB Køge, where he progressed from youth and under-19 level into the first team. His performances there earned him a loan to Genoa’s Primavera squad in the 2024-25 season, where he gained experience in Italian youth competition before returning to HB Køge at the end of the campaign.

Across league and cup competitions so far, Dorgu has built up more than 100 senior and youth appearances, scoring regularly at under-19 level and featuring in Denmark’s 1.Division, the Betano Pokalen and Bulgaria’s top flight. He has also appeared in the Primavera league and Coppa Primavera during his time with Genoa’s under-20 side.

With his most recent deal at Botev Plovdiv now concluded, Dorgu’s move on 16 July 2026 confirms his status as a free agent following the end of his contract in Bulgaria.
