Favour Fawunmi seals loan switch to Oldham Athletic from Stoke U21

England-Nigeria winger Favour Fawunmi has joined Oldham Athletic on loan from Stoke City’s under-21 side as the League Two club add extra pace to their attacking options. The 20-year-old right-sided forward will spend the 2026-27 season at Boundary Park, with the move already scheduled to end with his return to Stoke in May 2027.

London-born Fawunmi, who stands at 1.80m and prefers to operate as a left-footed right winger, moves into senior league football again after time in Premier League 2 with Stoke’s development squad. His market value is currently listed at €100,000 and his loan deal with Oldham runs until 31 May 2027.

The attacker arrived at Stoke U21 in February 2025 on a free transfer from West Ham United’s under-21s, having progressed through the Hammers’ youth system. He previously stepped up from West Ham’s youth ranks to their under-18 side in 2022 and was part of the group that lifted the FA Youth Cup in the 2022-23 season.

Fawunmi brings a strong record from age-group football, with 12 goals in 33 U18 Premier League appearances and further strikes and assists in Premier League 2 and youth cup competitions. He has already had a brief taste of senior action, featuring in the Championship, League One, EFL Cup, EFL Trophy and FA Cup during his early career.

Oldham’s latest addition, who can operate across the front line but primarily on the right wing, now links up with the National League Cup holders after a single appearance in that competition, and will spend the campaign under contract at Boundary Park before rejoining Stoke U21 at the end of his loan.
