World football governing body FIFA, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), and English Premier League club Chelsea have sent birthday wishes to Nigeria captain Mikel Obi as he turns 31. Mikel, born on April 22, 1987, has been celebrated for his contributions to Nigerian football and his impressive career at both the national and club levels.
FIFA tweeted birthday wishes for Mikel along with other football personalities, including Brazil legend Kaka. The NFF expressed its birthday wishes to the “Super Eagles captain fantastic,” acknowledging Mikel’s significant role in Nigerian football, particularly his captaincy during the team’s victory at the Africa Nations Cup in South Africa in 2013 and the bronze medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Mikel’s former club, Chelsea, where he spent over a decade and won 11 major titles, also extended birthday greetings to the midfielder. Chelsea recognized Mikel’s contributions to the club during his time with the Blues.
