Fisayo Dele-Bashiru inspires Lazio to dream Europa League start

By Wale Mustapha
Nigerian midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru delivered an impressive performance for Lazio in their commanding 3-0 victory over Dynamo Kiev in the opening match of the UEFA Europa League on Wednesday.
Fisayo, the younger brother of Tom Dele-Bashiru, scored one of the goals, helping Lazio secure a strong lead by halftime.
The match began with Senegalese striker Boulaye Dia giving Lazio an early advantage, scoring from a Pedro corner in the first 10 minutes.
Although Dynamo Kiev attempted to regroup and find an equalizer, their missed chances cost them dearly.
Lazio quickly took control, netting two goals in just two minutes. Fisayo scored his goal by expertly connecting with a defense-splitting pass from Mathias Vecino, calmly placing the ball past the goalkeeper.
He later assisted Dia for Lazio’s third goal, with Dia’s glancing header leaving the Dynamo keeper stranded.
Despite hopes for a comeback in the second half, Kiev’s chances dwindled when Marksin Bragaru was sent off shortly after coming on. Lazio also faced a red card late in the match, with Tijjani Noslin receiving his marching orders.
Ultimately, Lazio secured all three points with their strong first-half performance.
Looking ahead, Lazio will host Nice in Matchday Two, while Dynamo Kiev will travel to Germany to face Hoffenheim in October.
