By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria defender Benjamin Tanimu, after moving from Tanzania to Crawley Town in League One, aims to help his new team climb the league standings.

Recently unveiled by the club, the former Bendel Insurance defender expressed enthusiasm about settling in England and training with his teammates.

“This year has been rewarding for me, especially after playing my first game for the Nigeria senior national team,” Tanimu shared with Brila FM.

“I’m ready to work hard and contribute to the team’s promotion to the Championship.”

Looking ahead, Tanimu is also eager to face compatriot Kelechi Nwakali, who plays for Barnsley.

He hopes to be part of the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, should the team qualify.

“The weather is similar to Tanzania, so I’m adapting well,” he noted.

“Everyone is motivated to perform well, especially with the goal of returning to AFCON after reaching the final last time. We’re all committed to making sure we succeed.”
