Flying Eagles’ win over Egypt reportedly deters Ghana from rematch

Nigeria U20 men’s national team may head into the upcoming U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with just one preparatory match, as Ghana appears to have pulled out of a proposed rematch of last year’s WAFU B final.
Sources indicate that Ghana, still recovering from a 2-1 defeat to Zambia in a recent friendly, is hesitant to face Nigeria’s U-20 side following their impressive 2-1 win over tournament hosts Egypt in a warm-up game.
The Flying Eagles’ commanding performance has reportedly caught the attention of other participating teams ahead of the tournament, which kicks off on Sunday in Cairo.
Nigeria had hoped to play at least two warm-up matches before the tournament, with Ghana initially considered for a rematch of their closely contested regional final.
However, with Ghana backing out, Nigeria’s chances of securing another opponent before the tournament remain uncertain.
As it stands, the Flying Eagles could enter the U-20 AFCON with only one competitive tune-up game under their belt.
