Friday Ekpo pulls weight behind Super Eagles’ attacking prowess ahead of crucial World Cup Qualifiers

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

As Nigeria’s senior men’s national team prepares to face Rwanda and Zimbabwe in this month’s World Cup Qualifiers, former Nigeria international Friday Ekpo is confident that the attacking trio of Victor Osimhen, Tolu Arokodare, and Ademola Lookman will be too hot for Uganda and Zimbabwe to handle.

Head coach of the team, Eric Chelle included the three attackers in his final roster on Tuesday.

In a dicey position in Group C, Super Eagles need to win their next two games to stand any chance of qualifying for 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“Yes, football is a game of 11 players, but then, I am delighted that the new head coach has selected players based on form for their respective clubs,” Ekpo told Complete Sports.

This is a game I know the Super Eagles will be desperate to win, and I am sure they will get the victories against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.”

The team will also rely on other attacking players like Samuel Chukwueze (AC Milan, Italy); Victor Boniface (Bayer Leverkusen, Germany); Simon Moses (FC Nantes, France); Sadiq Umar (Valencia FC, Spain); and Nathan Tella (Bayer Leverkusen, Germany).

The three time African champions have three points after four games so far in Group C.

Nigeria will confront group C leaders Rwanda in Kigali on Friday, 21st March before taking on Zimbabwe’s Warriors at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo four days later.
