German club Hertha Berlin have appointed Felix Magath as their new manager until the end of the season.
The Bundesliga side parted ways with Tayfun Korkut following the team’s latest defeat against Borussia Mönchengladbach
A statement from the club read;
“After an intensive analysis and evaluation of the current sporting situation, the management of Hertha Berlin have decided to release Tayfun Korkut from his position as head coach of the team with immediate effect,” an official Hertha statement read.
On his end, Magath said;
“I had very open and honest discussions with Fredi Bobic,” said Magath. “We are all aware of the current situation, and I’m ready to help Hertha BSC achieve their goal of staying up. What’s important right now is that everyone is fully focused on the remaining eight games.”
?️ Felix Magath: I can’t imagine that being away from the Bundesliga for ten years will make a difference. If anything, It’s an advantage to have done other things – I’ve broadened my horizons and learned a lot. I’m looking forward to seeing the team.#GemeinsamHertha #HaHoHe pic.twitter.com/OoLf6uH6Jl

Magath becomes Hertha’s third coach this season, replacing Korkut, who was brought in to replace Pal Dardai at the end of November and enjoyed a promising start in charge of the Old Lady, picking up four points from his first two games at the helm.
The team is yet to win a single match in 2022 though, and they remain deep in the relegation zone.
The 68-year-old also coached Hamburg, Werder Bremen, Nuremberg, Stuttgart, Eintracht Frankfurt, Schalke, and Wolfsburg as well as a brief spell with English side, Fulham.
