Hugo Borst: Arokodare has become ‘a real joy to watch’ at Ajax

Dutch football pundit Hugo Borst has heaped praise on Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare following the forward’s impressive start to life at Ajax.

Borst was particularly impressed by Arokodare’s performance during Ajax’s emphatic 5–1 victory over Fortuna Sittard in the Eredivisie on Saturday.

Speaking during his half-time analysis on ESPN programme De Eretribune, Borst revealed that he has developed a strong appreciation for watching the Super Eagles striker, who joined Ajax during the summer transfer window.

The Dutch pundit also praised Arokodare’s personality, describing him as a genuine person whose character has contributed to his growing popularity.

“He is just a really nice guy, and that simply plays a part. I don’t think he does it to be liked; he is just genuine,” Borst said.

Although Arokodare did not score against Fortuna Sittard, his overall contribution continued to attract attention as Ajax recorded another convincing league victory.

The Nigerian was eventually substituted in the second half, with Kasper Dolberg replacing him for the final 15 minutes of the encounter.

Arokodare has made a strong impression since arriving in Amsterdam, quickly becoming an important attacking option for Ajax.

His early performances have also generated considerable discussion in Dutch football, with Borst among the growing number of observers impressed by the Nigerian forward’s impact.

The striker previously made headlines after scoring twice in Ajax’s 4–0 victory over Sion in the UEFA Conference League, while he also contributed a goal and an assist in the first leg against the Swiss side.

His form has continued to attract attention as Ajax look to build momentum in the Eredivisie and European competition.

For Arokodare, the praise from an experienced Dutch football analyst represents another positive development in what has been an encouraging start to his Ajax career.

The Super Eagles forward will now look to maintain his form and translate his growing influence into more goals and assists as the season progresses.
