Ikenne and Lagos to host Super Falcons friendlies against Indomitable Lionesses

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has designated Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne and Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos, as the locations for the upcoming international friendly matches between Nigeria’s senior women’s national team (Super Falcons) and Cameroon (Indomitable Lionesses).

These two matches are scheduled to take place on Friday, May 30, and Tuesday, June 3, 2025, respectively.

The two selected venues hosted Super Falcons double header friendly against Algeria last year.

Under the guidance of Justine Madugu, the team is preparing for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Both sides met during the Paris 2024 Olympics Qualifiers, with Nigeria securing a 1-0 aggregate win over the Central African side before recording the same result over South Africa to pick one of two tickets for the continent.

These friendlies will play a crucial role in the team’s preparations for the biennial tournament, with additional matches anticipated before the commencement of the WAFCON 2024 finals in Morocco.

Nigeria is set to compete in Group B against Botswana, Tunisia, and Algeria.

The Super Falcons last competed against Les Bleues of France in December 2024.

The nine-time African champions faltered 2-1 against Le Bleues but historically scored their first-ever goal against the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup host thanks to Ifeoma Onumonu.
