Nigeria star, Alex Iwobi has shared his thoughts on Ghana’s disappointing  exit from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Black Stars were eliminated from the group stage after recording just two draws in a group that has Mozambique,  Egypt, and Cape Verde.
Nigeria, on the other hand, made it through to the finals after a shaky start before losing to hosts and eventual champions Cote d’Ivoire..
Despite the fierce rivalry between the two West African nations, Iwobi says he has respect for Ghana’s players and was disappointed not to face them, while expressing sympathy for their performance.
“It’s a shame because the way they exited with the kind of players they have, was a bit sad to see,” Iwobi said per Ghanaweb.
“Obviously, because we were in the same hotel with them we could see how devastated they were.
“There’s a lot of vibe between us. I have a lot of people that I respect in Ghana so I would like them to do well.
“I have a lot of friends outside the team so it’s like you want them to do well so you can play against them and prove a point in the competition.
“My main concern is always going to be about Nigeria. So as long as Nigeria is doing well, I’m not too really concerned about any other nation.”
