Jofrank targets Nigeria U-23 place after winning goal against Enyimba

Nasarawa United striker Jofrank Istifanus says he is determined to earn a place in Nigeria’s final U-23 squad after scoring the goal that secured a 1-0 victory over Enyimba.

Jofrank struck in the 23rd minute to settle the Nigeria Premier Football League contest and extend Nasarawa United’s winning run to four matches. The result gave the Solid Miners all three points.

The forward credited his team-mates and head coach Mbwas Mangut for their role in the victory, while also thanking God for the chance to make the decisive contribution.

“Kudos to my team and coach. I thank God for the opportunity to score the goal that gave my team the win today,” Jofrank told Nasarawa United’s media.

The win came as Jofrank continues a strong season with Mangut’s side. His performances have also earned him a first call-up to Nigeria’s squad for the 2027 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations qualifying fixture against the Democratic Republic of Congo.

“It feels so wonderful to receive my first national invitation to play for Nigeria’s U-23 Olympic Eagles team. My dad will be so excited to see me play. I will work hard to make the final squad, God willing,” he said.

The striker also acknowledged the support he had received from across the club and pledged to represent Nasarawa United positively while on international duty.
