John Ogu's Heroics Propel Hapoel Beer-Sheva, Success Halts Malaga's Dismal Run

Super Eagles midfielder John Ogu showcased his prowess, netting the solitary goal in Hapoel Beer-Sheva’s pivotal 1-0 triumph against Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv in the Israeli Championship play-off, as reported by Completesportsnigeria.com.

Ogu’s decisive strike in the 31st minute secured a winning start for Hapoel Beer-Sheva in the Championship play-off, featuring six competitive teams vying for this season’s league title. This win vaults Hapoel Beer-Sheva to the top of the standings with 60 points, holding a slim one-point lead over second-placed Beitar Jerusalem.

The Championship play-off holds significant stakes, determining the league champions who will qualify for the UEFA Champions League qualifiers, while the second and third-placed teams secure spots in the Europa League qualifiers.

Hapoel Beer-Sheva is set for an intense showdown at home against Beitar Jerusalem on April 4, aiming to maintain their momentum in the play-offs.

Meanwhile, Nigerian forward Isaac Success contributed to a turning point for struggling Malaga in La Liga, featuring in their commendable 0-0 away draw against Celta Vigo, disrupting Malaga’s streak of seven consecutive league defeats.

However, Success’s compatriot Brown Ideye, part of Malaga’s 19-man squad for the clash, didn’t secure a place in the matchday squad. Success played a significant role until the 69th minute when he was substituted for Keko. Despite the draw, Malaga remains rooted to the bottom of the 20-team La Liga table with 14 points.

In the Austrian Bundesliga, former Akwa United forward Ibrahim Alhassan entered the fray in the 74th minute for Austria Wien, yet could not stave off a resounding 5-0 defeat against Salzburg. Alhassan has managed one goal across 17 league appearances for Austria Wien this season.
