Junior Ajayi, the proficient forward representing both Nigeria’s national team and Al Ahly in Egypt, has affirmed his longstanding ambition to don the jersey of Premier League giants Arsenal. Despite his openness to extending his tenure with Al Ahly, Ajayi remains steadfast in his desire for a future stint with the North London club.
With two years remaining on his contract with the Egyptian champions, Ajayi indicated his willingness to engage in discussions regarding a potential contract extension. In a statement to Egyptian TV channel CBC Extra, he expressed contentment with the prospect of continuing his tenure at Al Ahly, should the club opt for an extension.
While acknowledging his commitment to Al Ahly’s objectives, the Nigerian forward divulged his aspirations to pursue a European venture, notably singling out Arsenal as his desired destination. Highlighting Arsenal’s significance in his footballing aspirations, Ajayi revealed his admiration for the club and its legendary player, Thierry Henry.
“Arsenal is my favourite club, and I wish to play for them in the future. Thierry Henry is my all-time favourite player too,” Ajayi emphasized, underscoring his affinity for the club.
Despite setting his sights on an illustrious European move, Ajayi remains devoted to his current responsibilities at Al Ahly, regarding his time at the club as a privilege to be part of one of Africa’s most esteemed football institutions.
Ajayi’s recent cameo appearance for Nigeria in their World Cup friendly against Serbia, albeit brief, marked a significant milestone in his burgeoning international career, amplifying his determination to continue making strides both domestically and on the international stage.
