Nigeria’s senior women’s national team head coach Justin Madugu has confirmed that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has handed him a two-year contract to continue leading the senior women’s national team.

Madugu, who guided Nigeria to their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco earlier in July, further underlined his credentials on Tuesday after steering the Super Falcons to qualification for the 2026 edition of the tournament.

Speaking at the post-match press conference after his side played a 1-1 draw with Benin Republic, Madugu revealed details of his new deal.

“The NFF gave me a two-year contract starting on the 1st of October 2025 and ending on the 1st of October 2027,” the coach confirmed.

The extension is widely viewed as a reward for his impressive work with the team, particularly his success in blending seasoned campaigners with emerging talents.

Under Madugu’s guidance, the Super Falcons have displayed renewed tactical discipline, cohesion, and consistency, establishing themselves among the early favourites to defend their crown when the 2026 WAFCON kicks off in Morocco.

The team secured qualification for WAFCON 2026 despite a 1-1 draw with Benin Republic sealing a 3-1 win on aggregate.
