Kennedy Boboye laments missed chances in Sunshine Stars defeat at Kano Pillars

By Saheed Afolabi
Sunshine Stars head coach Kennedy Boboye has expressed his disappointment with his team’s wastefulness in front of goal following their 2-0 defeat to Kano Pillars, despite dominating large portions of the game.
A brace from Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa was enough to hand the Owena Waves their second consecutive defeat of the season at the Young Katsina Stars Stadium.
Despite controlling possession and creating numerous opportunities, Sunshine Stars struggled to find the back of the net, with Musa punishing them for their missed chances.
Speaking after the match, Boboye was unimpressed with the result, insisting that his team deserved more from the encounter.
“It was a bad game for us. We played very well, but the result did not show how we performed,” Boboye said in his post-match interview.
“We wasted many goal-scoring chances. If we had converted our chances, we would have been 4-0 up in the first half.”
The Sunshine Stars coach highlighted the crucial moments where his side failed to capitalize on their opportunities, allowing Kano Pillars to take advantage of their own chances.
“When you fail to convert your chances, you get punished. Our opponents took theirs and made good use of them,” he added.
With his focus already shifting to the next fixture, Boboye is determined to correct his side’s lapses and turn their fortunes around in their upcoming Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash against Enugu Rangers.
“We will keep working hard to ensure we win our next game against Rangers International,” Boboye said, emphasizing the need to bounce back and secure a positive result against the defending champions.
Sunshine Stars will now turn their attention to the upcoming match, where they will aim to put their missed opportunities behind them and claim a much-needed victory.
