Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo expressed his delight as his Turkish club, Kasimpasa, secured a crucial 2-0 victory against ten-man Goztepe on Sunday, marking their return to winning ways after a series of challenging fixtures. Omeruo, who made his 23rd start of the season, played a pivotal role in the team’s success and took to Twitter to share his joy.
“Great win Today away from home.. and good to see my bro from Chelsea @dembabafoot @ İzmir, Turkey,” Omeruo tweeted, acknowledging the positive outcome and also recognizing his former Chelsea teammate, Demba Ba, who featured for Goztepe.
Before the encounter with Goztepe, Kasimpasa had faced a challenging period, going four straight league games without a win, recording two defeats and two draws. The victory, fueled by Veysel Sari’s 24th-minute goal and Trezeguet’s 90th-minute contribution, propelled Kasimpasa to a 2-0 lead.
The match took an unfavorable turn for Goztepe as Milos Kosanovic received his second yellow card, reducing them to ten men. Kasimpasa capitalized on the numerical advantage to secure a comprehensive win, ending their winless streak.
The triumph elevated Kasimpasa to 10th place in the 18-team league table, accumulating 34 points. Omeruo’s noteworthy performance and the team’s return to form signal a positive trajectory as they navigate the challenges of the Turkish league, aiming for further success in the remaining fixtures of the season.
