Muhammad Abdullahi: Nigerian defender joins Jihlava from Remo Stars Youth Academy

Nigerian centre-back Muhammad Abdullahi has joined Czech side Jihlava from Remo Stars Youth Academy, completing a move to Europe for the 18-year-old defender.

Abdullahi, who was born on 29 August 2007, arrives in Jihlava after emerging from the youth set-up at Remo Stars in Nigeria. He signs on the back of his development as a specialist centre-back and will link up with the FC Vysocina Jihlava squad ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

The move marks Abdullahi’s first transfer outside his home country and follows a breakthrough period at youth level. He featured in the prestigious Viareggio Cup, making two appearances in the 2023-24 edition of the tournament and collecting winners’ honours with Remo Stars’ youth side.

Used at the heart of defence, Abdullahi accumulated minutes on the international youth stage in Italy, gaining experience in a competitive environment that has often acted as a springboard for young players moving into European club football.

His performances there, combined with his progress in Nigeria, have now led to the switch to Jihlava, who play in the Czech National Football League. Abdullahi will continue his development in central defence as he adapts to senior football in a new country and league.

The transfer, completed on 15 July 2026, sees Abdullahi leave Remo Stars Youth Academy to begin the next phase of his career with Jihlava.
