NFF Charges Falconets to Make History at FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Executive Committee has urged the U-20 women’s national team, Falconets to aim for a historic first-ever FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup title when they compete at this year’s tournament in Poland in September.

During its meeting, the committee directed the NFF Secretariat to put in place adequate preparations to ensure the team is fully equipped for the global competition. It also reminded the players of Nigeria’s impressive record in the tournament, having finished as runners-up in 2010 and 2014, and encouraged them to surpass that achievement by lifting the trophy.

The Executive Committee also congratulated their U-17 counterparts, Flamingos for securing qualification for the 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup after defeating Benin 5-3 in the second leg of their final qualifying fixture in Lomé, Togo, on Saturday.

The victory sealed an 8-5 aggregate triumph for Nigeria, earning the Flamingos another appearance at the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, which will be hosted by Morocco later this year.
