MVV Maastricht midfielder Kelechi Nwakali, currently on loan from Arsenal, is harboring a fervent desire to play for the Premier League giants in the upcoming season, but he acknowledges that the final decision lies with Arsenal’s manager, Arsene Wenger. Speaking with Completesportsnigeria.com, the former Golden Eaglets player expressed his eagerness to break into the star-studded Arsenal squad during the summer pre-season.
Nwakali revealed that the positive words from compatriot Alex Iwobi have been instrumental in fortifying his mindset, instilling the belief that his dream of playing for Arsenal can become a reality through dedicated effort and hard work.
The Chile 2015 U-17 World Cup-winning captain is prepared to face stiff competition for a place in one of the world’s biggest clubs, emphasizing his readiness to accept the challenge if given the opportunity. Nwakali is keen on living his Arsenal dream next summer.
“I love to play for Arsenal next season, but coach Arsene Wenger would have to decide that; it is not in my position to determine my fate in the summer,” Nwakali conveyed to CSN.
While expressing gratitude for the support and developmental opportunities provided by MVV Maastricht during his loan spell, Nwakali acknowledged that Arsenal holds a special place in his aspirations. He remains uncertain about whether he will stay with MVV Maastricht next season or return to Arsenal, leaving the decision in the hands of Wenger.
Nwakali’s second loan spell with the Dutch second-tier outfit concludes this season, and he is contracted with Arsenal until the summer of 2021. MVV Maastricht currently stands at the ninth position in the table with 49 points from 36 matches. The talented midfielder eagerly awaits the unfolding of his footballing journey, with hopes set on an Arsenal future.
