NWFL Premiership: Wemimo Mathew reflects on Remo Stars defeat at Bayelsa Queens

In the aftermath of their 3-1 loss to Bayelsa Queens in the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premiership, Remo Stars Ladies coach, Wemimo Mathew, shared insights into the team’s performance and mindset during the game.

The former Edo Queens head coach expressed that Bayelsa Queens’ second goal came as a shock to her players, especially after they had managed to equalize earlier in the match. Despite the setback, Mathew commended her team’s effort and resilience, acknowledging that in football, there are victories, draws, and losses.

“In the game of football, you win some, draw some, and lose some,” Mathew stated in a post-match interview. “I give kudos to my girls for fighting till the end. When Bayelsa Queens scored the second goal, it shocked my girls, but overall, they played a good game.”

Mathew also praised the young players for their performance, noting that they gave Bayelsa Queens a tough challenge throughout the match.

Looking ahead, Remo Stars Ladies are gearing up for their next fixture against Robo Queens in the Southwestern Derby on Wednesday, April 3rd. With their spirits undeterred, the team aims to bounce back from the defeat and put on a strong showing in their upcoming game.
