OFFICIAL: Bayelsa Queens Appoint Wemimo Mathew as New Head Coach on Two-Year Deal
Bayelsa Queens have officially announced the appointment of Wemimo Mathew as their new head coach on a two-year contract.
The experienced tactician joins the Prosperity Girls alongside her trusted backroom staff as the club looks to build on its rich history of success in Nigerian women’s football.
Mathew arrives from Remo Stars Ladies, where she transformed the Ikenne-based side into one of the top teams in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership. Under her leadership, the Sky Blue Stars secured a place in the 2025 NWFL Premiership Super Six, marking a significant milestone for the club.
Before her successful spell at Remo Stars Ladies, Mathew had a brief stint as head coach of Edo Queens and also managed Sunshine Queens, further strengthening her reputation as one of the country’s respected women’s football coaches.
She now takes charge of one of Nigeria’s most decorated women’s clubs. Bayelsa Queens boast multiple NWFL Premiership and President Federation Cup titles and also finished third at the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League.
Mathew will be aiming to guide the Prosperity Girls to more success while pursuing the first major trophy of her coaching career.
