Paris 2024: William Troost-Ekong applauds D’Tigress’ historic progression

Nigeria international William Troost-Ekong has expressed his excitement as the women’s basketball team, D’Tigress made history at the ongoing Olympic Games in Paris.

Following their 79-70 victory against fifth-ranked Canada in their final group game, Rena Wakama’s side became the first African team, male or female, to advance to the round of eight.

The African champions defeated world number three Australia in their first game before suffering defeat against the hosts, France, who are ranked seventh in the world.

The West African team has since received praise from fans alike and the Super Eagles captain also took to social media to celebrate Nigeria’s achievement.

“Amazing achievement 🙌🏽 let’s go all the way! 🇳🇬,” he posted on his X.

D’Tigress will now face the USA on Wednesday for a place in the semifinals.
